What Happens During an Infant Circumcision Appointment?
Consultation and assessment
The physician reviews your baby’s medical history and assesses whether the procedure is appropriate. This is an opportunity to ask questions about the procedure, comfort measures, recovery, aftercare, and potential risks.
The procedure
If your baby is considered eligible, the circumcision is performed by Dr. Awais Pandhiani using a clamp technique under local anesthetic, in an appropriate clinical environment. The physician will explain the procedure and answer any remaining questions before proceeding.
Aftercare instructions
Before you leave, you will receive instructions about caring for the circumcision site, what to expect during healing, and whichsigns should prompt you to contact the clinic or seek medical attention.
Infant Circumcision Aftercare and Recovery
Contact the clinic or seek medical attention if you notice:
- Significant or persistent bleeding
- Difficulty urinating
- Increasing swelling
- Signs of infection
- Fever
- Unexpected changes during recovery
- Anything else that concerns you about your baby's healing
